I went home this weekend for family stuff. Like the good son I am, I took the weekend off work to be there.

At first, I thought about flying, and looked up some flights. A quick pffft to that idea, as it was crazy expensive on such short notice. After toying with the idea of Megabus, I figured I should drive instead.

Enter the research phase of the trip. I ended up bookmarking every car rental company in the metro Chicago. Then I had to narrow them down based on price. Thank the sweet Lord for a AAA membership. Woot woot for discounts!

Hertz was the winner and I had the best experience with them. Great customer service, great little car, great gas mileage. It ended up being about a buck twenty-five for a three day rental with unlimited miles. (This is of course including the optional insurance and gas refills. The car was only $67. Score!)

The next time I need to drive home, definitely going with Hertz.
